Evaporative Air Cooler - Keep Cool Without The A/C
There is a system that has been around for years that can provide cool relief on the hottest summer day without relying on air conditioning. It is known as an evaporative air cooler. No ductwork or expensive equipment to buy.
Check out these evaporative air cooler systems and see if one will work for you.
*Direct Cooling - Use cold mist, humidity is introduced into dry, hot air. Air from a fan is blown through the mist and is turned into coil moist air which then circulates through the room.
*Indirect Cooling - Using a variation of a heat exchanger, air is blown over or through the coils and is cooled. The coil generally contains a refrigerant which, because it is in a sealed system, is safe.
*Dual-Stage Evaporative Air Cooler - This system combines both direct ad indirect cooling. Its advances is that is uses only a small portion of the energy an indirect evaporative air cooler uses. However, the introduction of moist air into a room at the same time, can raise the humidity to uncomfortable levels.
*Cooling Tower - This system is used in commercial applications and is also very similar to an evaporative air cooler. Air is run through a system of towers and the the heat that is removed from the air is transferred to a chiller.
